An Antique Prayer Rug We Want To Share

Hey, I know there are lots of 'rug nuts' out there and I thought that it might be fun to share this antique Isphahan Prayer Rug with any interested parties that want to chime in.
This was one of my first actual Oriental Rug aquistions and I got it in a very unusual manner, which I may share at a later time. I can tell you this- it was a present to a high official of an Asian national bank. That was long before it came to be in my hands and I spent many years trying to correctly identify and date this 'magic carpet'! My best information was confirmed back in the 1980's by the then president of the ORRA.
You may have noticed that I called this a 'magic carpet'. Well, it truly does transport you when you spend time meditating on the design elements! I believe that this is a where the myth of the flying carpet came from.....magnificent and inspired designs that transport the beholder to other realms. There was, and still is sometimes, a spiritual aspect to the art of weaving carpets.
I will add more photos in the coming days. Please feel free to submit any impressions or ideas you mat have concerning this magnificent piece of woven art.
